La (siempre controvertida) representación política

Abstract

This article approaches the current debate about political representation in the context of a political and economical crisis from a theoretical perspective. Currently, the main critiques of the political system voiced by the newspapers and the public opinion focused on the electoral system reform; nevertheless, the debate should go further, in order to comprehend the functioning of the whole political system. We are in need of a global analysis able to rethink the model in its full complexity, leaving aside quarrels about small details, and attentive to the demands of citizens. The role of parliaments and political parties should be clarifi ed and adapted to a new political context in which the different political arenas are increasingly connected.
