Reflexiones sobre la circunscripción electoral de la Asamblea de Madrid. Inconvenientes presentes y desafíos futuros

Abstract

The electoral system that applies to the Assembly of Madrid has proven to be extremely functional and has permitted the representation of all relevant political forces, in addition to promoting good governance. One of the features of the Assembly’s electoral system is that the district covers the entire territory of the Autonomous Community. This fact alone does not add to the analysis, but when combined with other factors such as the number of representatives or the way of casting votes, may pose some problems today, from the standpoint of legal and political. This paper offers a reflection on the uncertainties that the current electoral rules introduced and the challenges that may arise in the future.
